Pregame Report: Boston Bruins at Vegas Golden Knights- October 8th, 2019

The Bruins play the penultimate game of their season opening road trip tonight when they face off against the Vegas Golden Knights at T-Mobile Arena. Puck drop is set for 10:00 pm ET, and the game will be broadcast on NESN and AT&T SportsNet Rocky Mountains. Here’s a look at the projected lineups for tonight’s game. Here is the known lineup information for tonight, as no official lines have been put out, so I’ll be going off the most recent practices but will update this once final decisions regarding some players have been made.

    Boston Bruins:

Marchand-Bergeron-Pastrnak

    DeBrusk-Krejci-Kuhlman

    Heinen-Coyle-Ritchie

    Wagner-Kuraly/Lindholm-Backes

    Chara-McAvoy

    Krug-Carlo

    Grzelcyk- Clifton

    Rask

    Halak

The only expected changes in the Bruins lineup is that David Backes will likely be back in the lineup on the fourth line. That most likely leaves either Par Lindholm or Brett Ritchie as the one sitting in the press box. Also, it was announced yesterday that Joakim Nordstrom has been cleared for game action, but he needs more practice time to get up to speed before he gets in a game.

Vegas Golden Knights:

    Marchessault-Karlsson-Smith

    Pacioretty-Glass-Stone

    Pirri-Stastny-Zykov

    Carrier-Nosek-Reaves

    McNabb-Theodore

    Merrill-Holden

    Hague-Engelland

    Fleury

    Subban

The Knights did not practice yesterday, so here is the lineup from their most recent game. I would not expect any changes, and if there are they will be most likely be depth guys.

The Bruins will be facing by far their toughest opponent of the season so far tonight. If they want any chance of winning this game, they need to fix their power play and get their offense going, as Vegas is a high-octane team that has scored as many short handed goals as the Bruins have goals. Also, they have an incredibly goaltender in Marc-Andre Fleury, so they won’t be getting any easy goals. It’s still a winnable game if they keep improving on the third period from the other night, but if they look anything like they did at the beginning, this could get ugly fast. I guess we’ll just see how it goes tonight, and then rethink our life’s decisions tomorrow morning when you’re on about 5-6 hours of sleep (or will that just be me?).
