
The St. Louis Blues announced today, October 4th, that they have signed forward Brayden Schenn to an eight-year contract extension worth $52 million ($6.5 million AAV). The deal will begin in the 2020-21 season. Schenn appeared in 72 games for the Blues last season, in which he produced 17 goals and 37 assists. He then played in all 26 of the team’s playoff games, through which he tallied five goals and seven assists. Drafted fifth overall of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft by the Los Angeles Kings, Schenn has appeared in 588 career NHL games, over which he has recorded 154 goals and 218 assists. The 28-year-old center and wing has played for the Blues for the past two seasons, and he has suited up for a total of three different organizations over his slightly over nine season NHL and professional career.

- 2020-21: $8 million base salary, no signing bonus, a no trade clause (NTC)
- 2021-22: $8 million base salary, no signing bonus, NTC
- 2022-23: $5.2 million base salary, no signing bonus, NTC
- 2023-24: $8 million base salary, no signing bonus, NTC
- 2024-25: $8 million base salary, no signing bonus, NTC
- 2025-26: $6.5 million base salary, no signing bonus, modifed NTC (15 team no trade list)
- 2026-27: $4.3 million base salary, no signing bonus, modified NTC (15 team no trade list)
- 2027-28: $4 million base salary, no signing bonus, modified NTC (15 team no trade list)
