The Chicago Blackhawks Extend Alex DeBrincat

The Chicago Blackhawks announced today, October 3rd, that they have signed forward Alex DeBrincat to a three-year contract extension that’s worth $19.2 million ($6.4 million AAV). The contract will begin in 2020-21. DeBrincat played in all 82 games for the Blackhawks last season, in which he produced 41 goals and 35 assists. Drafted in the second round (39th overall) of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft by Chicago, he has played in 165 career NHL games, over which he has recorded 70 goals and 59 assists. The 21-year-old right wing (and he can also play on the left wing) has only played for the Blackhawks organization over his two season NHL and professional career.

Full Contract Breakdown:

  • 2020-21: $1.1 million base salary, $4.5 million signing bonus.
  • 2021-22: $5.1 million base salary, no signing bonus.
  • 2022-23: $9 million base salary, no signing bonus.
