
The Colorado Avalanche announced today, September 28th, that they have resigned forward Mikko Rantanen to a six-year contract worth $55.5 million ($9.25 million AAV). Rantanen appeared in 74 games for the Avalanche this season, in which he produced 31 goals and 56 assists. He then played in all 12 of the team’s playoff games, through which he tallied six goals and eight assists. Drafted tenth overall of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft by Colorado, Rantanen has appeared in 239 career NHL games, over which he has recorded 80 goals and 129 assists. The 22-year-old right wing has only played for the Avalanche organization over his four season NHL and professional career.
Full Contract Breakdown:
- 2019-20: $12 million base salary, no signing bonus.
- 2020-21: $12 million base salary, no signing bonus.
- 2021-22: $10 million base salary, no signing bonus.
- 2022-23: $6 million base salary, no signing bonus.
- 2023-24: $9.5 million base salary, no signing bonus.
- 2024-25: $6 million base salary, no signing bonus.
