Pregame Report: Boston Bruins vs Chicago Blackhawks- September 28th, 2019 (Preseason)

The Bruins play their final game of the preseason today at 3:00 pm ET when they face the Chicago Blackhawks at TD Garden. The game will be broadcast on NESNplus and NHL Network. Here are the rosters for this afternoon’s game, as neither team had a morning skate so projected lines were not released.

Boston Bruins:

Forwards: Patrice Bergeron, Anders Bjork, Charlie Coyle, Jake DeBrusk, Cameron Hughes, Karson Kuhlman, Sean Kuraly, Par Lindholm, Brad Marchand, David Pastrnak, Brett Ritchie, and Chris Wagner.

Defensemen: Brandon Carlo, Zdeno Chara, Connor Clifton, Torey Krug, Charlie McAvoy, and Jakub Zboril

Goaltenders: Maxime Lagace and Tuukka Rask.

Chicago Blackhawks:

Forwards: Aleksi Saarela, Kris Versteeg, Matthew Highmore, Brandon Hagel, Reese Johnson, Mackenzie Entwistle, Mikael Haakarainen, Jacob Nilsson, Philipp Kurashev, Tim Soderlund, Alexandre Forlin, and Dylan Sikura.

Defensemen: Adam Boqvist, Joni Tuulola, Chad Krys, Lucas Carlsson, Philip Holm, Nicolas Beaudin, and Jake Ryczek.

Goaltenders: Kevin Lankinen and Matt Tompkins.

I seriously hope the Bruins can win this game. On paper, they should completely run these guys over. The Blackhawks are part of this year’s NHL Global Series, which is over in Germany, so their entire NHL roster is over there, which only leaves their AHL guys as you can see. The Bruins, on the other hand, are using this game as essentially a dress rehearsal, since almost every player who is in the lineup tonight will also be so for the season opener in Dallas on Thursday. However, as I’ve said numerous times so far this preseason, hockey is weird and only one game has gone as I figured, so what do I know. But seriously, the Bruins have no business losing this game and it really shouldn’t be close. Yes, it’s preseason and it’s far more important everyone gets some touches it and no one gets hurt, but it’d still be embarrassing to see what is essentially your NHL roster get beat up by the ‘Hawks AHL roster without a single NHL regular on it. But, regardless of what happens this afternoon, real hockey is almost back, folks, just four more days until the official start of the regular season and five more days until the Bruins open up their season! I’ll be writing a postgame report over at PUCKerUp Boston so stay tuned for that over there after the game!
