The Calgary Flames Resign Matthew Tkachuk

The Calgary Flames announced yesterday, September 25th, that they have resigned forward Matthew Tkachuk to a three-year contract worth $21 million ($7 million AAV). Tkachuk appeared in 80 games for the Flames last season, in which he produced 34 goals and 43 assists. He then played in all five of the team’s playoff games, through which he tallied two goals and one assist. Drafted sixth overall of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft by Calgary, Tkachuk has appeared in 224 career NHL games, over which he has recorded 71 goals and 103 assists. The 21-year-old left wing has only played for the Flames over his three season NHL and professional career.

    Full Contract Breakdown:

  • 2019-20: $1 million base salary, $4 million signing bonus.
  • 2020-21:$3.5 million base salary, $3.5 million signing bonus.
  • 2022-23: $9 million base salary, no signing bonus.
