The Ottawa Senators announced yesterday, September 19th, that they have signed defenseman Thomas Chabot to an eight year contract extension worth $64 million. The deal will kick in for the 2020-21 season. Chabot appeared in 70 games for the Senators last season, in which he produced 14 goals and 41 assists. Drafted 18th overall of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft by Ottawa, he has played in 134 career NHL games, over which he has recorded 23 goals and 57 assists. The 22-year-old defenseman has only played for the Senators organization over his three season NHL and professional career.

This post will be updated tomorrow with the full contract breakdown and my reaction to this extension.
