Penguins Resign Adam Johnson

Today, the Penguins resigned one of their four remaining RFAs in Adam Johnson. The 25 year old winger signed a one year, two way contract worth $700,000 at the NHL level. Last season was Johnson’s first in the NHL, and he appeared in six games with Pittsburgh, notching zero goals and two assists. With Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, he played in 67 games and had 47 points. In his AHL career, Johnson has appeared in 137 games, tallying 74 points. The Univeristy of Minnesota-Duluth product was an undrafted free agent that the Penguins signed in the 2017 offseason. Johnson has a real chance to make an impact on the Penguins fourth line this year with Wilson leaving and Cullen retiring. I think he is a physical player that likes to get in on the forecheck which is something that Pittsburgh needs. I really like the deal and hopefully they will use him more this coming season.
